SUMMONING GUIDELINES

Summoning is the act of focusing intangible forces into an object--a vessel--and giving these forces a physical form. The strength of the summoning spell is based on the spiritual strength of the summoner. Those who specialize in summoning usually fall into two categories:

Aura Summoning
Summoning from external forces; from nature. The beings conjured up by Aura summoning are known as Sprites. Sprites are conjured by using elemental based items as the focuses or anchor for the summoning and then shaping the physical form of the sprite around this anchor, like crafting a body around a heart. The element of the Sprite conjured is dependent on the vessel used; a pebble for an Earth Sprite, a dewdrop for a Water Sprite, etc. The most basic Sprites to conjure are Wind Sprites.

Sprites are able to utilize the element they are sprung from to an extent that depends on the strength of their summoner as well as the strength of their anchor. An Earth Sprite with a rose bush as an anchor would be stronger than an Earth Sprite with just a rose petal for an anchor. However the greater the anchor the harder and more complicated the summoning is.

Spirit Summoning
Summoning from internal forces; from emotions. The physical manifestation of emotions is known as the summoner's Animus. All spirit summoners have a Default Animus also known as Spirit Animals, which is the summoning they are able to call up easiest. This Animus is based on the emotion the summoner had that catalysed their powers. Summoning other animus is far more difficult and requires incantations.

Animus usually take the forms of mythical-like creatures or beasts with advanced strength and/or prowess. An animus strength is based on the strength of the summoner and the emotion it’s summoned from. Animus are different from Sprities in another way in that they can be stolen by other summoners. If another summoner defeats an opponents Animus the summoner can absorb the animus into his or herself and utilize it as easily as their own default animus.
