Spending time with a new friend (Robina)
« Thread started on: Oct 21st, 2008, 6:36pm » |

School had already ended, and Asenti had long ago gone to her dorm, and got ready for her meeting with Robina. She decided on a black cotton blouse, and a matching long black skirt, along with a simple black bow in her hair. She loved black, but she wasn't one of the goth girls nor a punk skater type, she just had an affection for the solid color one that has stayed with her since childhood. After getting ready she went to the designated dorm room, and picked up her friend Robina.
Now the two were on the school grounds, in the garden area as discussed. Since both the girls seemed to enjoy flowers to a great extent this did seem like the most logical place to be, and on today of all days it was the perfect place to visit. the sun was shining just right, and the flowers were radiating because of it.
"it's very nice today isn't it?' Asenti said looking at her newly acquired friend. She was really happy that she had been invited to come do something like this, and even more excited tha tRobina was the one who had asked her. Asenti just knew today was going to be a really fun day.

"It's very nice today, isn't it?"
Robina nodded in agreement. She wore blue jeans and a purple tie dye shirt with pictures of large cats and thier cubs on the front, her favorite and a gift from Derek. Causal and relaxed were much more her style than the fancier uniforms the school had them wear.
"It is. How were your classes? You weren't late, were you?" Robina inquired. Classes had been a little dull today, mostly because the teachers were settling the students back into the swing of school again. She'd eaten lunch with Alice and a few of the older girl's friends and had told them about meeting Asenti. Alice wanted to be kept up-to-date about Robina's friends; she was rather protective. She had finished her classes for the day and rushed to her dorm to get out of the dreaded skirt like usual, only this time she had a reason for changing. That fact alone made her smile.

"It is. How were your classes? You weren't late, were you?"
"No no no. I was...well ok maybe just a little late, but my teacher hadn't cared that much since it was only like a minute." she smiled then took a seat next to a large rose bush. She moved her hand to her side, and patted the seat next to her, hoping that Robina would join her. "You know you look rather nice in pants." she complimented the shorter girl happily. She loved making people smile, and complimenting them was always a good way to make that happen.
"So how about you were you safe, and not late getting to class?" she switched the subject back to the first one. Asenti genuinely cared that the girl had gotten to class on time so that was her motivation enough to switch the subject back. "I do hope I did not cause you problems with our conversations. That just would not be fun." she said hoping to death that the girl had not gotten yelled at by her teacher.

"You know you look rather nice in pants."
Robina sat down easily, smiling and blushing slightly at the compliment. She didn't get them often enough for them to be normal, but she loved it when she did. "Thank you. I like your outfit. Black and purple are my favorite colors." Which would be obvious if anyone saw her closet. Those two colors were definatly prodominate.
""So how about you were you safe, and not late getting to class?"
"I made it, barely. But the teacher was fairly nice about it. Think she thought I was a first year who got lost." She laughed at the thought, but was grateful to have gotten nothing more than a warning. She didn't want to make a bad impression on her teachers; doing so on the first day would be awful!

"Thank you. I like your outfit. Black and purple are my favorite colors."
"Why thank you!" her face lit up after the compliment had been given. She looked away right away not wanting to be seen with a red face. She was really new to interaction like this so it was normal that it caused her to blush. She was not sure how to calm down, and stop blushing so for the time being she would keep her head turned. For a little bit she had nothing to say, but she couldn't keep her friend waiting, but then the other girl said something.
"I made it, barely. But the teacher was fairly nice about it. Think she thought I was a first year who got lost."
Asenti turned back after hearing her voice. Her face still really red. "Well that is really good to hear. I was worried that I had caused you problems? though I am sorry that the teacher thought that you look mature to me"" She had a relieved look on her face now despite the blush. "So what is it you like to do Robina?" it felt like a normal question to ask someone you just met so she decided to go with that. She had wondered if they both liked flowers so much if they had anything else in common like maybe Robina liked to cook, or dance and sing, all of which were Asenti's favorite activities.

'There's that blush again...' Robina thought. Perhaps Asenti was just a little shy. Lotus Insistute could make anyone shy! It was cute though, the way she blushed. Robina just didn't want her new friend to be uncomfortable.
"So what is it you like to do Robina?"
"I love writing. Poems, songs, stories, anything at all really. I want to be a writer when I graduate, though I hope to have other jobs as well," Robina's eye lit up as she spoke, writing was her true passion and nothing gave her as much joy. "And I love to act. Getting on stage and pretending that I'm someone else, trying to fool myself into believeing I am that person...it's so much fun. About as physically demanding of an activity as I'm willing to do." She couldn't wait for the next play, auditions were always fun and she hoped to get a role. Any role, really, she was a firm believer in "there's no such thing as a small role."
She realised she'd been going on a bit, a bad habit of hers, and gave Asenti an apoligitic look. "Sorry, I like talking a bit too much as well! What about you? Well, besides flowers, obviously. You said you liked almost everything, but is something you're favorite?"

"Oh, it's quite alright, and well I like to sing, and dance. I also absolutely love to cook, I use to do that for my friends all the time back home. Those are my favorite activities at least. I sometimes draw, and I love listening to philosophies." she sighed as she herself just went on about what it was she liked to do, but it was also fun talking about what she liked to do with Robina. Asenti smiled slightly as a fun idea came to mind.
"Since you love to write so much, maybe you could right me a song and then I would sing it for you!" she sounded very excited while saying this. It sounded fun to her, but it might not to her new friend so then she added. "Unless that's a stupid idea to you then just forget I said anything." Of course she didn't want it to be stupid, but to a lot of people it would be. Asenti fell slightly silent after saying these things though she was not sure of what she could say next.

"No I'd love that actually! My siblings are all tired of me asking them to sing things for me. Well, except the twins and they're too young for anything complicated." Robina's mind was already running through ideas for lyrics and tunes to match Asenti's personality. The prospect was exciting to her, enough for her to ignore the twing of pain when she thought of her siblings. The only downside to coming here was dealing with the homesickness.
'She's a wildseed like Alice. It's interesting how different they are, but I consider both to be my friend.' Robina smiled at the thought.

"That is just great! Now I can sing something original, instead of along with the radio. Also I will get to sing something besides French songs!" Like always she was excited over a small thing. "Maybe in exchange I can make you lunch one day! You know for giving me the chance to sing something like this." This was win win to her, she loved to cook, and loved to sing and she would be able to do both, and what made it better was that it was for a friend.
Asenti went to play with her skirt, as she thought of things she could cook for Robina. There were lots of things she could make; Cookies, cake, homemade candy, and even more complicated foods like souflet which she loved making, but if it was lunch none of those would do so she would have to wait to hear what Robina would want then she could decide.

"You can sing in French? Lucky!" Sure, Robina had noticed Asenti's accent, but she hadn't paid much attention to it beyond thinking it pretty. "So you can speak French too?" She'd always been interested in forgien languages, but hadn't had much success in learning them yet.
The idea of Asenti cooking her food seemed a bit intimate, but Robina was never one to turn down a meal. "If you want to make something for me, I certainly won't complain. My idea of cooking is to stick something in the microwave and press start!"

"So you can speak French too?"
"Oh oui, being born in France will do that to a girl!" she said with a brief smile. Asenti adored her home land of France so she also enjoyed it when people asked her about it, or something related to it. "I do miss my homeland, but I suppose you do too don't you Robina? Why don't you tell me a little about the place where you were born. I would really like to know." she smiled hopefully wanting the girl to spill everything about the place where she hailed from.
"If you want to make something for me, I certainly won't complain. My idea of cooking is to stick something in the microwave and press start!"
"Oh that just won't do! From now on I will cook for you when you need something made!' she was upset that Robina cooked like that. The girl deserved a home cooked meal, and Asenti was the girl for the job. "I can cook many things, and I will make sure you enjoy every meal that I make you." she then lunged forward and hugged the girl to get her point across.

Robina laughed and hugged Asenti back. Her mother was very affectionate and had taught all of her children to appreciate touch and hugs has a part of life, friendships and romance. It was nice to meet someone else who felt the same!
"Thank you Asenti. That's a very kind offer," Robina said as they eased back from the hug. "I grew up in America myself. Oklahoma to be specific. And I do miss it, but I miss my family more. It' still weird not seeing them everyday, and the twins grow so fast! I hate missing it all, but my brother Matt talked my grandparents into buying him a camecorder, so he sends me letter tapes of all the events I miss. Like fottage of his latest girlfriend "for my approval". Or Minnie being in a beauty pagent for toddlers. It seems silly at her age, but she seemed to have fun!" She sighed softly, pride and love beaming from her as she thought of her family. "Derek is trying so hard to make it on his own, and his boyfriend and job and school take so much of his time. He's the oldest though, and wants to set a good example for the rest of us. And Jakob managed to get onto a paintball team, though I have no clue how the game works besides running around and shooting people with these little paint pellets. So, of course, Patrick wants to be part of it, and then little Luke will go running after them." Oh, she did miss them. If only she could bring them here!

"Your family sounds interesting! One day you will get to speak to them in person again just remember that." she smiled widely at her friend Robina trying to reassure. She knew how Robina must felt since she missed all of her family as well. "maybe I will get to meet them as well since they all sound nice." she then said knowing that she would like to meet them. She went back playing with her skirt then. "I mean that is if you would want someone like me meeting them."
Asenti returned to blushing after saying what she said. Her words may have implied some things that she would not want to be let out. She did not want Robina to think that she wanted to meet her parents as a girlfriend. Asenti had never even dated before after all, and she wished to wait before she dated someone. "I don't mean anything special or anything!' she then exclaimed her face turning a brighter red.

"I don't mean anything special or anything!"
Robina hugged Asenti reassuringly. "You're fine Asenti. Don't worry so much. I'm sure my family would love to meet you." She broke the hug before it could get uncomfortable. She hadn't had a boy or girlfriend as of yet, but the idea wouldn't bother her. She knew it was considered taboo among some of her friends back home and that many parents had encouraged their children to not be friends with her or her siblings. However, her mother's various relationships left her quite open minded. Plus, being at an all girl school, Robina figured it was only a matter of time before she did have a girl friend. She wouldn't rush things though. After all, she and Asenti had just met. Planning to date already would be going way too fast!
"So how did you find out you were a Wildseed?" The change of topic was dileberate, in hopes of making Asenti feel better.

"So how did you find out you were a Wildseed?"
"Well I didn't find out until this year, but my parents knew for a long time. They told me it wasn't normal to be reading, and speaking full sentences when you are only two. They also told me that being able to build machines when you five, but they said I was special and that I should be happy I have these gifts." a tear fell from her eyes as she thought of what had happened back in France. "I was kept from the school, and was taught at home. and I only had two friends, but it was for my protection." she let out a sigh after saying this. She did not like discussing this much, but she didn't want to be rude and not answer Robina.
"How about you Robina? How did you discover you were a Crafter?" she returned to smiling hoping she would not worry the older girl. "Was it different for you, or did you face the same things as I did?" she expected that it was the latter of the two, she thought that most people went through what she did.
