Little Glass Window (Twila, Open)

"No...yes, I understand...mm, I've only just arrived...no, no, no difficulties at all...alright. I'll talk to you later then. Bye."
Ari pressed the 'End Call' button on her phone; a little something which she had grudgingly accepted from her grandmother, who insisted to check up on her every few minutes or so. She had tried to tell her that mobiles were not allowed, even if she didn't know if that was a complete lie or not. Besides, the ashen-haired female wondered if it was safe to bring electronics around; providing the number of Wildseeds that roamed. Placing the phone in her bag, she continued her journey through the impossibly long corridor.
Upon arrival, she was immediately blown by the different uniforms students wore. Three types of uniforms milled around, and Ari had felt quite out of place, wearing her normal clothing. She found out later that the uniforms determined what 'class' a student was in. She remembered feeling a little surprised; some students didn't look like a Wildseed...or a Crafter.
What caught her interest at that time, however, was the fact that there were no males whatsoever, and faced with such an environment...Ari felt slightly strange. It was a new experience, needless to say, and she couldn't say for certain if it was a good or bad thing.
Sliding her slender fingers along the smooth paint on the wall, she couldn't help but stop to marvel at the windows. Not at the decorations in particular, but what lay outside the glass panes. Every now and then she would do so, which was probably the reason why the corridor seemed so long to her. She had just finished her Summoning class, and was on her way outside. Except, she had decided instead, to wander around inside first, just to get a feel of the vicinity she was destined to stay in.
Though put like that, it seemed like a bad thing.
Eyes with a golden hue travelled to glance at the tapestry hung upon the left wall; a mass of threads forming the shape of a vase of flowers adorned the surface. She smiled briefly, despite herself, but there was no-one else along here. Everyone either had classes, or study sessions. Or nearly everyone, that is.

An empty corridor! Twila was quite thrilled to find it in such a state. No other students or teachers milling about for her to bump into or (perish the thought) talk to. Now she actually had time to look around her surroundings and could stroll around without worry.
A content Twila was taking her time as she walked around. Finishing early with her classes for the day meant there was more leisure time. And that also meant she could bone up on her studies of that abandoned chaple. A pursuit well worth investing time in, despite all the efforts of that older girl to dissuade her.
Ghosts...what a preposterous notion! It was her experience with such old structures that said hauntings rarely ever happened. If at all.
Caught up in her current train of thought she almost didn't notice the other girl who occupied the corridor. It was out of her peripheral vision that she caught sight of her...and that was enough to put her off balance enough that she could trip over her own two feet.
In the brief moment of time that Twila was in the air, she had enough time to contemplate just how many ways she managed to find falling down. It certainly was a nuisance. Not to mention quite embarrassing...after all, she was actually quite good on her feet. The only problem was that it only seemed to be when no one else was around to witness such feats of grace.
"D'oooof!!" was the sound sound that came from the typically quite girl as she met with the floor for a face to face conversation.

The ever faraway thoughts of the ashen-haired female certainly didn't register the fact of another girl occupying the corridors. So it did come as a shock when a sudden noise interrupted her musings of peace and tranquility. A suppressed, 'squeak' of surprise issued from her mouth; something barely heard for someone like her. Looking a few ways from where she was standing, the first thing she saw was a mane of unruly, blonde hair...and from what she could see, the female had landed face down.
Ari then searched the area for the source of the girl's misfortune, but upon finding nothing...the Crafter was once again, plunged into a state of confusion. Of course, none of this showed on her face. The fallen one was a Wildseed; shown from the uniform.
Not one to stand there when someone needed help, but she wasn't one to rush to their rescue immediately, Ari opted for a third option. Her feet tapped against the ground semi-silently as she made her way slowly to the girl, eyes searching for any sign of a prank or joke. 'It'd hardly be surprising...' She thought to herself absentmindedly. After all, she was used to the whole 'pretend-someone-needs-trouble-then-throw-water" scene. Seen from the perspective of an onlooker, and sometimes, the victim herself.
She stopped in front of the female, and knelt a little, "Need assistance?" She asked softly, unsure if the sound would be able to reach the girl's covered ears. If the other declined, she wouldn't be the one to push her help on them...and certainly, she wasn't exactly the type who insisted on doing so.

She supposed it was good that the Wildseed uniform did feature skirts. As clumsy as she tended to be in large crowds, that sort of thing was only something else to add to her embarressment.
Still, that did not prevent a hue of red from running across her cheeks as the person she assumed was a fellow student approached her. Of all the luck, she seemed unable to escape human interaction.
"Ehrm?" she looked up, tilting her head to the side glancing at the casually dressed girl. It was almost a surprise to see no discernable features and just a vague blur that resembled a human. Then it occured to Twila that her glasses were elsewhere.
"Um...." she sat up and looked around, running a few fingers through her mess of hair, "...glasses?" was the quiet and brief responce. All the while, she did her best not to make much eye contact. Not that she would have faired to well if she was trying to, anyway.

The hazel-eyed female herself was trying not to connect eye contact, so she hardly noticed that the other female was doing the exact same thing. Perhaps it was for the best; else, she would have taken it as a sign that the other student did not, after all, need any help.
She tapped the side of her neck briefly, out of sheer habit, before raising an eyebrow slightly. "Glasses...oh." At first, she thought that the other was referring to her own glasses...then realized that she wore none. "Mm..." Ari glanced around to search for the necessity. "I...don't think it's here - oh." Blinking, she strained her eyes, her not-so-perfect vision not helping at all, to lock onto an object a few ways away.
How it managed to skid all the way over there, Ari would never know. And she didn't plan to find out either. Straightening her legs, she quickly went over to pick them up by the rims with two fingers. She didn't want to get fingerprints imprinted all over the female's glasses; it certainly wouldn't be appreciated.
Resuming her position by kneeling next to the girl once more, she placed the object next to the blonde. "Here." She said airily. It didn't look as if the Wildseed would need a helping hand, and Ari was still avoiding all eye contact possible, and not in a discreet manner at all.

"Th-thank you..." she took the red frames and slipped them on. Clarity returned and she was able to see more detail around her. Including the attire her new aquitance had decided to wear. It was simple. And also quite informative. The girl had to be a transfer.
Once sight had been restored, Twila pushed herself back up to her feet. And so continued the avoidence dance. Whoever this transfere was, Twila would probably find her the most agreeable out of all the other students.

"So...um..." After Ari straightened up for the second time, a finger found it's way to twirl a lock of ashen hair nervously. Or more like, trying to do something while making it seem not too noticeable...The silence was awkward, that much was certain, and just standing there made her feel all the more awkward. "I'm...uhm...Lirai. Ari for short...it's a pleasure to meet you..." Just for the sake of an introduction, and a very feeble attempt at creating a conversation.
Though why she would even try to do such a thing, Ari wasn't even so sure herself. Actually, she wouldn't be surprised if the other student (who she finally realized was avoiding contact with her, after a quick peek) just left without a word. Least surprising would be if her own legs carried her off without even noticing.

"Twila..." she replied. Currently, she was in a state very similar to that of a deer in headlights. Hence her continued presence in the situation and her own attempts to add to this conversation.
She gave a quick clearing of her throat, "...Yo-you're new?", this conversation was going to have end at some point, but Twila knew she was expected to add something to it.

Oh, how awkward this was. She just wanted to find a patch of sand and bury her head in it. As an ostrich would do. Actually, she found those birds to be quite the amusing and interesting species; the ability the run fast, yet unable to fly. She wondered if that was for the better or for wor -
No wait. All she was doing was babbling on and on to herself. Perhaps to avoid answering. "Ah, Twila..." then, a pregnant pause filled the gap, before she continued, "And...yes, I'm new...to this school..." She tasted the side of her cheeks nervously, before continuing, "Are you?"
Totally, and utterly irrelevant and unneeded.

"...Oh? Relatively...." she replied. An honest and quick reply. Although it really left no room for an out. Just more awkward spaces in this attempt at conversation. She looked around Lirai and managed to build a good idea of what she looked like without having to go through an actual once-over of the new student.
Beyond this, Twila had no idea what direction to take this conversation. Despite all the enounters she had had with other people, nothing ever seemed to stick. She was just better with busted-up old buildings and the spiders that often inhabited them.

"...right..." Ari fiddled with the hem of her shirt. Now, 'awkward' was becoming to be the understatement of the hour. And to make matters slightly worse, she was never the type with a conversational personality. It was as if the gene pool had missed her out when they were handing that particular trait around. She half-believed that; her grandmother was one talkative woman.
Speaking of which, it was amazing she hadn't called. And it was way past five minutes since the last time. New record, Ari guessed...or a flat battery.
Back on track, she half-noticed the fact that Twila also seemed to be incredibly uncomfortable. "...you...um..." Why didn't she just up and leave now? It would save her the embarrassment. "...um...what's it like? Being a Wildseed?"
OOC: I don't really know what's happening...rofl 8D;;

(OOC: haha, yeah, me neither...but then again I didn't expect this two to really entire a lively discussion)
"Nothin'....different I s'pose...." Twila said, "I'm not real good with most...physical stuff that the others are. Aside from that, I just work with computers alot."
It was a personal record for words put into a sentance. And there was no stuttering or stammering, to boot! It almost aroused a slight smile on her face. Perhaps there was some good to this "talking with other people" thing.

OOC: True, true. It would've been better if their personalities clashed, heh.
"I see, I see..." And Ari did actually hold some interest when that question was asked...and answered, surprisingly. She was only imagining a few words, but it had been more than just that. The ashen-haired female tapped a finger on her chin, "...I never did manage to get the whole...computer thing..." She just didn't.
Electronics? Well...if she was ever let loose on a broken watch, it would miraculously cease to exist. Literally. She knew the basics, of course, but she couldn't even pull apart a computer without breaking a piece, much less put it all back together...unbroken. And working.
"...and I'm not really that good with physical stuff anyway so..." She was about to say something about similarities. But decided against it, since Ari did happen to catch the faint lines of a smile. Almost.

"Oh?" she glanced upwards, for a very brief moment and looked back down at the ground. She was encouraged, however. Perhaps there could be more than blind fumbling around for topics at dragging out this encounter.
"Well...what do you do, then?" she was a little curious to see what other students were capable of.

"What do I do?" Ari repeated, slightly confused. It wasn't as if she misunderstood the question. She knew what the other was asking perfectly fine. What she wanted to know was what the other meant. And she didn't really know what she did. Well, she couldn't describe it in words, that is. "Um...I major in Kinetic magic, if that's what you mean."
"A Crafter." She added, before mentally hitting herself. Well duh.
